Radio

In the spring of 2025, The Issachar Calling was approached by Diné Adventist Radio (DAR). DAR thought it would be a good idea for us to get a license for a low-power radio station in Shiprock since the big towers for the radio were on the other side of the mountains and the signal might not reach the Shiprock area. The license was obtained rather quickly, but the process of getting it set up has been a bit more complicated.

2026—an exciting year for the expansion of our ministry.

Our biggest hurdle was finding a place from which we could broadcast. Because Shiprock is on the Navajo Reservation, any land is subject to the rules and regulations of the Navajo Nation, which means that you can’t just buy a piece of land and set up a tower. But God led the way and that particular problem was resolved by our being able to rent space for an antenna on a NTUA tower to the north of town. The space on the tower costs $1,000 a month—which made us all swallow a bit, but we stepped out in faith and signed up for it anyway.

The Lord has led us through so many different obstacles and has provided so much help from a number of different sources, and we are now broadcasting. Our call letters are KJSS-LP and can be found on the dial at 106.5 FM. Because it is a low-power station the signal should only reach a 50-mile radius, but because the tower is located on the top of a hill it will actually cover most of the town of Shiprock.
