Higher Ground School

The 2025-26 school year started with eight students and two teachers. We were evenly split between lower grades and upper grades. Ms. Claire James joined us this year to teach the lower grades—2nd grade, 3rd grade and a special needs student. Ms. Cynthia Risk taught the upper grades—5th grade and 7th grade. Then in October we gained a student in Ms. Claire’s classroom.

Because we had two teachers this year we were able to have cooking classes and music classes, which greatly enriched the learning experience for both students and teachers.

This coming year we are hoping to provide more practical skills lessons as well as the basic academics. Please keep us in your prayers as we endeavor to lead these precious young people and guide them closer to Jesus as we teach them day by day.

Current monthly expenses for the Higher Ground School are as follows:

Electricity - $300
Propane - $150
Insurance for vehicle - $250
Fuel for vehicle - $200
School supplies - $150
Teachers (2) - $1,400
Meals (breakfast & lunch) for students - $400
Total Monthly Need = $2,850

The monthly expenses could easily be met if we had 100 people willing to donate $30 or more each month.

Monthly tuition costs are $100 per student. Many of the families on the Reservation and in the nearby communities are impoverished and are unable to afford this greatly reduced tuition. Your donation of $100 per month could sponsor one of these Native American students and help them receive a Christian education.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”—Proverbs 22:6
